According to an announcement from the National Immigration Administration of China, the country's transit visa-free policy has been significantly expanded: the maximum stay has been extended to 240 hours (10 days), eligible ports of entry increased to 60, coverage expanded to 24 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, and the policy now applies to citizens of 55 countries, including the United States.

  • Must hold a valid onward ticket to a third country or region (destination must be outside China).
  • Must hold a valid entry visa or residence permit for the third destination country (waived if the destination country is visa-free for the applicant).
  • Must depart within the visa-free period.
  • Must enter through a designated transit visa-free port (verify your entry port is on the approved list before traveling).

  • Beijing: Beijing Capital International Airport, Beijing Daxing International Airport
